Feel blessed, I’m revealing to you my secret weapon when it comes to gardening. Not that my garden is fabulous, but still, I grow a good chunk of our food. Here it is…***drumroll***
The Self-Sufficient Gardener by John Seymour. I have the original 1979 version but there is a newer version available as well. It is truly the best and most comprehensive gardening resource I have found. My copy has a near permanent place on my nightstand and I constantly refer to it. This time of year it gets a lot of use as I plan for our 2010 garden. I’ll try to share bits and pieces as I go.

I hope I can find it! I looked on the Canadian Amazon but the only one I found was “The new Self Sufficient Gardener”.
I am thinking that I would really love to grow potatoes (true Irish girl), carrots, onions, garlic, strawberries, cucumbers, and hopefully some strawberries. My boyfriend is ADAMENT about trying to grow a giant pumpkin……I’m going to try to talk him out of it though…ha ha!
Question: Do you think it is better to grow your garden by seed, or grow a seed and transplant?
