This is something I’ve been considering for a few days so I thought I’d throw it out there and see what you guys think.  I’m thinking about starting another blog about my relationship with God and my quest to become a better Christian.  Normally, I’m not a big fan of having multiple blogs.  I don’t like having to jump around to follow along.  I definitely don’t need anything else to suck up my time.  Between this blog, many forums, and now Facebook I really feel like the internet already takes up enough of my time.

I really want to write about it though.  And I don’t think I want to do it here.  Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not ashamed to put it out there that I’m a Christian.  The thing is, I wasn’t always.  I know what it’s like to be an atheist and I know how I felt about religious mumbo jumbo back then.  And I know that the way to be a good witness is not to scare people away.  I want my normal readers to be able to enjoy the content here without feeling at all uncomfortable.

I want to be completely comfortable too.  For that reason I’m thinking a new blog might even be restricted, set up so that you have to log in to read it.  I could invite a few people to start and if you’re interested you could let me know and I could add you.  I’m really inspired by many other blogs that I read.  However, mine would be a lot different.  Mine wouldn’t be an inspiring here-are-the-answers type blog.  Instead, I want to talk about what it’s like to join the church as an adult and not know all those things that other people know.  I don’t even know the basics, but I’m determined to learn.

One other note, if I do this, I’m not going to feel any pressure to post regularly.  I’d post when I felt like it, whether that be once a week or once a month.  I’m not going to commit to anything more than that.

What do you think?  Are you feeling it?  Prefer I keep it seperate (like I plan to)?  Want/need to learn along with me?  Care to follow along to offer inspiration?  Will it (or has it already) changed your opinion of me?  How?  I want to know what you’re really thinking here folks.  🙂

  1. I prefer people keeping everything to one blog. I’m terrible about checking back on blogs that need to be logged onto. If I can’t read about it in my google reader, then it probably won’t get read at all. Is that really any better?

Plus, it wouldn’t offend me the least bit if you were to talk about God on your main blog.

  2. Most of the blogs I follow have Christian posts occasionally. I’m an atheist but celebrate Christian holidays with my family. I think if this blog is about journaling your life, then go ahead and post here. But I also understand wanting to separate it or keep some things more private, which is why I made the separate blog about our baby. Bottom line… do what feels right to you!

I’ve had a post written about my views on religion for months now, but have yet to hit “publish.” Mostly I’m afraid I’ll lose some of my readers who disagree with me.

  12. This probably won’t be very helpful, but I hope you feel free to post wherever and however you like. If you start a new one, I’d love to be a reader. =)

  13. Do what feels right to you. Many people wish they could express their views but really are to afraid to do it because of what others think. If this is something you feel strongly about, then follow your heart. 🙂

  14. I would love to be a part of that blog with you! I have enjoyed reading about your farm life and it would be fun to get to know that side of you. Whether you do it here or on another blog, I’m sure it will be a big part of your growth process. God has used mine in so many ways to speak into my own life. I like having them separate because it seems more like a journal to me. A place of my own to write what God is doing in me. It sounds like God has done a miracle in your heart and I’m sure that others would benefit from what you can share of your experience.

    God BLess!

  15. I only recently found your blog, but I’ve been enjoying it. Although I am not a Christian (polytheist), I feel that as a person’s spirituality is a large part of them, you shouldn’t be afraid to talk about it. Now, if (as you’ve been holding back of late) you turn into ALL JESUS EVERYDAY! you -will- lose some readers. I can suck it up and deal with your god, just like I would be able to deal with your beliefs in general — it’s like being afraid to discuss the fact that you believe chickens are better than ducks! Yes, people will disagree with you, but ultimately, those who would leave because of this, probably aren’t necessarily the nicest. Tolerance all around, right?

    … end rant. 😛

  16. I agree with the others; I don’t have a problem with your religion being a part of this blog. But I sense in your post that you would feel more comfortable keeping the two separate–and it is your blog(s) and your comfort level that count! The potential new blog sounds fascinating.

  17. I would be happy to read anything you write with respect to your embrace of Christianity. Whether you elect to keep those writings separate, or to include them in your farm blog, I’ll still read them. I only recently discovered your blog, but I keep returning, and I enjoy reading it very much!

  18. I think there are a lot of women that are drawn to other Christian women that blog about it. I think you should go for it if you are comfortable! I’d be all for it. 🙂

  19. Hi Jenna-

I appreciate you and learning from you about your farm and homesteading experiences. I am not a believer but I am a spiritual person.
Having a separate blog would allow you to meet different bloggers that may not be interested in farming. Whatever your decision, I will continue to read your blog as I think you are on a great learning path.

  20. I think only you can decide if you have the time to maintain another blog. Along with the other commentor’s here, I believe that you would be able to post about your Christian life here, if you so chose. Good Luck!
